Explicit Semiotic Whitelisting

2004-04-01

I’ve tried to make some improvements to the LiveJournal™ Music Chart by adding explicit semiotic whitelisting - essentially the same sort of technology one uses to avoid spam. Obviously it also shares the problem of false negatives, which may reduce the statistical accuracy a little. However, as with all aggregation, there have to be some compromises: I think you’ll agree that it’s an overall improvement.

(Updated 2004-04-01 13:00: Okay, maybe there was a slight skew to the distribution. Change backed out.)
