It’s fascinating to watch the LiveJournal™ Music Chart’s RSS feed as it’s impacted by real-world events. The less-than-happy news of a fatal shooting at a rock show, not surprisingly, showed up in listening patterns. No Damageplan, revealingly, but four Pantera tracks. In chronological order of appearance, then: Cemetary Gates, Walk, Cowboys From Hell and Floods. It’s a fairly drastic way to assemble lists, but there’s something refreshing, if ghoulish, about that kind of transparency and immediacy.
